There is a battle for your heart. For your faith. For your mind. For your soul. For your purpose. The pursuit is relentless.

The Bible tells us to guard our hearts because it determines the direction of our lives. Our hearts are fragile so we must be good stewards of what we allow to affect it.

It’s like our front door of our house. Do we allow just anyone in? No. I have a ring doorbell that allows me to see who is at my front door. I don’t answer the door if I don’t know who they are. I used to feel bad if I didn’t at least hear them out. After learning the hard way I refuse to do that again.

We have to be diligent to not keep the good out, but to keep harm out. Yes, there will be times we will get hurt and not expect it, but what about allowing those who hurt you back in over and over again? Knowing something or someone is harmful is a benefit because now you can choose whether to allow it in or not.

Choose wisely my friends. Ask Jesus for wisdom and discernment. Read His word. Pray. Cause when the lies, fear, doubts, and threats of the enemy come knocking you’ll know better than to open the door. ❤️

Good morning friends!!

Every year my husband and I request that the kids make their Christmas list {open season lol}. I must say the kids don’t disappoint as their list can be quite extensive. This year was no different but I noticed that my teenager had a really hard time making a list {will wonders never cease}. You’d think I’d be happy…no list…no gifts. Right? I was curious to what was taking him so long so I asked him. He said that what he wanted he knew he wasn’t going to get so what was the point in making a list. Hmmm. Not the answer I was expecting.

How many times have we refused to go to the Lord with a request simply because we didn’t think he would answer us?

I was hurt because I asked him to ask and he didn’t trust my heart towards him. He didn’t see it that way. He saw the times that he asked and didn’t get what he asked for. Sound familiar? I am not insinuating that our request is like a Christmas list or that the Lord is Santa Claus. It’s the principle here of asking when told to ask. The Lord tells us to pray; to bring our request before him continually. Often times we stop asking because we haven’t received in a way we expected. Just like my son, we don’t trust the heart of God towards us. We see an unanswered prayer and our hearts get hardened and distant. We get discouraged and disappointment sets in and we no longer pray and seek God for our needs and desires.

God asks us to ask and seek him and he knowing the plan for our life will say no at times or not now. This is NOT him not answering or not hearing you. This is his protection over you but do not stop asking!!! Don’t be discouraged over a no or not yet. Be encouraged that the Lord knows your end from your beginning. He sees your need and wants and has a plan to meet them all. In the meantime he’s working on your behalf in unexpected ways. Trust the Fathers heart towards you…you are after all his beloved child.

busy, Jesus, Mary and Martha, pray, quiet time, settle down

I was reading my devotional today {about 3 hours late} and I was so jumbled in my thoughts and was having a hard time concentrating. With so much going on I’ve fallen into this rush rush mode. Doing has become more important than being still and taking a moment to just sit with the Lord. So as I’m reading my devotion {of course the phone rings and the kids have a million questions} the verse for the day is referencing the story of Mary and Martha. If you don’t know who they are they were sisters whom Jesus was visiting. One sister, Mary, took time to sit with Jesus and just enjoy his company. The other sister, Martha, in a panic {me}, was so busy with preparations that she even tattled on Mary to Jesus {sisters lol}. Instead of Jesus telling Mary “Go help your sister” he told Martha {my version} “settle down girl Mary is just fine!” I would have been so irritated not to mention embarrassed that Jesus told me to calm the heck down {again my version}. Omg! I have been a Martha lately, so busy and distracted that I haven’t had a moment to just sit and enjoy the company of the Lord. Life is busy and demands a lot out of us. Kids, husbands, sports, church, jobs, the list goes on and on. These are not bad things yet, they can become a chain around our neck that weighs us down like a slave to their master. I am so guilty of simply not taking the time to be still and know God. Martha and I would have been great friends; however, I want to be great friends with Jesus too! Take time today to get alone and visit with the Lord. He’s great company!!
