I recall many moments a sweet friend would give me an encouraging word and tell me to “ponder it.” She would always use that word…ponder. I had to look it up because it’s not a word I had ever used. The definition is to think or consider especially quietly, soberly, and deeply. Honestly, I was hesitant because quiet is not my style. Being an external processor I talk things out. My friend on the other hand is the epitome of quiet. She would say very little, but when she spoke you listened. Was I not suppose to talk about the things God has told me?

I’ve come to learn what she meant. What quiet looks like on the inside. How to process in the quietness of Gods presence. How to take what the Lord spoke and let it simmer in my heart like soup cooking over a low flame. Allowing time for the full flavor of it to get down deep where my heart becomes convinced. Considering the words before I speak them knowing how powerful they are. That both life and death are an option by what I speak to myself. Guarding the door of my heart carefully as to not let thieves come in and rob me of the truth.

I’ve come to learn there is a time for everything. A time to speak and a time to listen. I pray you hear me today and consider what the Lord has spoke to you. Keep the words close. Don’t allow others to bring their thoughts before you have your own. Don’t let the dream or vision get cloudy or muddied by opinions. Hold close to your heart what the Lord said and consider it a secret until the appointed time. Just like Mary and my friend Beth, believe in Him who has promised and it will come to pass. ❤️

Good morning friends!

Today is the day we get another step closer to where Gods is taking us! Yes!!

Do you ever catch yourself wondering why in the world am I still here? This would be the reoccurring theme these days. Have you seen hardship after hardship with small seasons of peace or calm yet it’s never long enough to be an overcomer or victor. Can I get a witness? Amen sista Emilie {I’ll high five myself}!

God is doing a deep work when you find yourself in a familiar situation or season. The Isrealites were brought out into the desert to worship the Lord and root out Egypt. They had been captive so long {hundreds of years} that Egypt and their ways were more in them than they thought. They cried out to be delivered from bondage physically but spiritually, emotionally, and mentally they were in bondage as well. Our outside condition is NOT the only condition that needs to be tended to. I’m sure they, the Isrealites, thought the moment we are out of here we’ll be free from all of this slave work and bondage. Yet, we see that when they were in the desert even after the Red Sea crossing they wanted to go back cause at least they had this or that. What?! Go back after all they have seen God do?!

Don’t judge. We do it all the time. How many times has God brought us out of a situation and it doesn’t look like we thought it would and the first thing we do is complain and compare? We want the immediate turnaround, it’s what we prayed for. However, God sees deeper then that. He sees how we have become a slave to our old way of thinking, doing, believing. Oh sure, our surroundings may be different but we are still in the same place mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. We are wandering round and round the same mountain wondering what is God doing. He is killing off the old you. The old ways. The old mind set. The old belief and doubts that have held you at a distance from true trust in God. He is creating a new dependence on him alone. No more options. He can’t allow you to have one ounce of Egypt in you when you enter into your promise land.

Don’t despise your wilderness. This is a mandatory season of preparing you for your promise. I know it doesn’t look good. You’re tired. You’re hungry. You want more than just the temporary. Stop complaining. Stop comparing. Get ahold of what has been promised and praise God while on your journey there. Don’t allow yourself to wander one more moment longer than necessary because of your complaining and comparing attitude. Trust God knows the way out and is leading you there now!!

He Promised!

forty, hope, Jesus, promise

Turning 40 was supposed to be a big deal. You know, the big bash with all your family and friends. A big affair! It wasn’t. It didn’t happen the way I wanted. I wanted the balloons and celebration but just like every other major shift I’ve ever had it was suttle and quiet. Our transformation, our purpose {becoming who he designed us to be} rarely looks like what we see on tv or dreamed in our mind…instant, glamorous, with cheers and a crowd. We don’t see behind the scenes…the process. In my late 20’s the Lord had showed me a vision of my future and much like turning 40 I wanted the lights, the party. I wanted the dream…now. I never considered the process but he did. He didn’t need my help planning {I tried}. He rarely does. He takes his time. He likes surprises. He adores our trust. He sees the end from the beginning and knows our potential. We do not. We see time. We see work. We see pain. We see limitations. We see us and he needs us to see him.

Purpose takes time. Our purpose has a process. Don’t despair. God is too faithful to leave us in a season longer than we have to be there. He promised us a hope and a future. A good one! Believe him! It may not happen overnight but what beautiful flower blooms the moment it’s planted? Just like turning 40 was going to happen party or no party so will your purpose. Whether you see or feel anything happening it’s inevitable because he made a promise!!

Almost 18 years ago my husband and I made a covenant {promise by a pledge: to enter into a contract} to each other. We took vows. Little did we know that those vows would be tested and tried. Our promise to each other and God has been the glue at times when we wanted to give up. We’ve experienced some good times, bad times, and some really ugly times. I’m not gonna lie there were times I wanted to throw in the towel. It seemed easier to just walk away and take a loss but God never, EVER sees it that way. His word is final. His promise is a guarantee forever. No matter the journey he’s in it for life. He promises to never leave or forsake us. His love is unending and faithful irregardless of how we feel. He never doubts his decision of choosing us. We have always been his desire. I have been having dreams of getting remarried and I truly believe this word is for the church…his bride. The past years have been rocky. You wanted to walk away and give up. You’ve said to yourself it just not worth it. You’ve felt denied and neglected. I am getting ready to make a new covenant, a new promise, to you. Because you have remained faithful inspite of your feelings I will honor and show you great favor. Our relationship had to go through the testing and trials. Get ready to experience a new level of love, trust, and relationship with me. This will be a season of warm and fuzzies again. You will see and feel my love like never before!! Thank you for hanging in there with me!

Thank you Lord for your word for they are life to us. You are a rewarder of those who diligently seek you!!! Be blessed my friends this Labor Day!!

When the Lord called us out to Texas my family and I had to walk away from family, friends, church family, and our football family. One of the hardest things for my husband was having to give up coaching his football team. He literally cried {that NEVER happens ever}. Those kids were his heart. He loves coaching and we had built our family on faith, family, and football. Moving was NEVER on our radar and to some we seemed a little crazy {to most…a lot crazy} but to us this was our life. We knew the Lord was directing us to move. Our obedience to the Lord came at a price but God delights over us when we trust him especially when the cost seems to be too high. It’s been 4 years since my husband last coached football and this season he had an opportunity to coach again. Yahoo!! I love to see God restore to us the desires of our heart. He promises to give us far more than we ever gave up for his sake. He’s faithful like that. We don’t always see how or when but he will restore…eventually. Hold onto hope that restoration is in the plan for your life. Count on it. Depend on it. It WILL happen!!!

Today will not be the day the Lord breaks his promise to you. Neither will tomorrow or the day after. He is unchanging and every word he has said is true. Every promise he has given will come to pass. Every ache you feel at this present moment is serving a far greater purpose. Your promise with process is nothing but an inheritance to be spent unwisely and wasted. Wait for it. Dwell there in that dry place. Even though it seems like nothing is growing there…you are! I pray Lord that everyone reading this will be infused with new hope and enduring faith. I pray that you, Lord,  remind them today of how faithful you are. Show them your goodness in their desert. Provide for every need. Illuminate their way. Strengthen them. It is not your intention that they die there. You will see them through this because of your promise!! Help us to believe again today! In Jesus name…Amen!!
