Just In The Nick Of Time

As I was watching tv this evening I felt so overwhelmed by emotions of relief. It was as if God just showed up and rescued me. The feeling was so heavy I found myself laughing and crying.

So many of us are on the verge of breaking, about to give up. The struggle has been exhausting. You’ve wondered if all the hard work, the faith, the hope, the tears, were worth it. Your obedience has brought you face to face with giants you’d never imagined you’d battle. You find yourself with more questions than answers.

If this is you, then this word is for you!!

God is going to show up just in the nick of time. Not one second too soon. You may even think he’s not coming, but he is!! Hold on just a little bit longer!!

I don’t know how the Lord is going to do it but in one moment everything is going to change!!

Hold on friend, Jesus is never late. We serve an on time God so be expectant!! Things are about to change for the good!!

Your Cave Season

I was thinking the other day why has this season been so full of isolation and just plain uncomfortable. I look around and my circle of people looks different and the Lord brought the story of David in the cave to my heart.

He went there to escape from Saul. {1 Samuel 22} The cave provided a strategic advantage of safety. He was there alone first then his family came, then others who were going through issues too, came. Before long he was surrounded with the people the Lord sent. People with problems. Not people who had it all together. The Bible says they were in debt, distressed, and bitter. Everyone was in the same boat. I’m sure the 9 months he was there felt like an eternity.

I often wondered why he would send me people in pain when I’m in pain. People who can’t help me out of my trouble nor me help them out of theirs. I know now it’s to comfort each other and grow with each other. A common ache of the heart connects them because in the end that time of cave dwelling is preparation for what is to come. There is a purpose in this.

What we are learning is more than just survival. It’s war tactics. It’s compassion. It’s empathy. It’s the mourning a soul needs in time of troubles without eyes of judgement but eyes of compassion and comfort.

Take a look around you. God is building us up to battle together. It’s no coincidence who has been sent to you, to me. It’s no coincidence where he has sent you and I either. We have been hand picked to fight WITH each other for a greater purpose. Those men would be the ones who would stand by David’s side to fight against the enemies of their day. Tried and trusted. Victors of many battles! So will you and I be, victors of many battles!!

Be encouraged, friends. This is a temporary, but necessary season.

Victory is assured by the One who fights for us, Jesus!!

I’m a dreamer. I fantasize a lot of what could be. My imagination works overtime as I imagine all that God has for me. I do have to be careful to not assume that my dreams will just happen. I have a part to play in the plan of my life. My willingness to walk hand in hand with Jesus allows me the privilege of being guided by his voice and see his hand move in my life. I must be obedient to do as I have been told. This is the hard part. Walking {a verb} by faith will require that I must be a doer not just a hearer. The enemy would love to cripple us with fear and lies. Lies that tell us it doesn’t matter what we do or say. Don’t get stuck here! Most do. Do you realize how important you are?! 

We are not puppets but partners with God. Crazy thought huh? We have been chosen to co labor with one another and God. He placed eternity in our hearts and leads us to our expected end. But what if I make a mistake? What if I am wrong? Sometimes we will miss it, I have, but God in his grace redirects us and sends us back out. Don’t make this an excuse to be inactive. God tells us over and over again to not be afraid. Jesus lived courageously and full of power. We are to be like him. This is where we learn to discern {to detect with senses other than vision} his voice from our feelings and walk by faith. Jesus says his sheep know his voice {John 10:27}. Don’t be afraid to step out! We are not doing this life alone. Jesus said he would never leave us, never. We have a constant friend, advocate, intercessor, guide, and deliverer as we walk through this life. 

Let this year be the year you step out. Live courageously. Be brave and trust in the God you serve. You will have choices to make. Things to say. People to meet. Risk to take. I pray that courage takes you by the hand and propels you forward. There is much to be done and never underestimate the role you play in your story!

Good morning friends!! I feel it in my heart that someone needs to know this today!! 

When I was little I heard that children were to be seen and not heard and in order to keep the peace we were to keep quiet. Here’s my thought on that…silence is NOT peace…it’s the absence of sound and how could we ever keep the peace when there was none to begin with?  

I saw and experienced injustice and dysfunction all around me as a child. It created a fear based mentality that crippled me from speaking truth. No matter how bad I wanted to speak up I couldn’t. There was no peace only silence; they are NOT the same. The idea that my words could bring destruction haunted me until I discovered that I was meant to bring destruction to lies with Gods word in me!! God has given us an arsenal, his WORD, to combat the lies of the enemy. Had I known that my destiny was to speak and use my words to tear down lies I wouldn’t have wasted so many years in silence. You see the moment a truth is spoken we have just spoken life. We have declared war over death in an area! I love it!! Our words our powerful!! They can bless or curse. They can tear down or build up. They speak life or death. We choose. We have authority in Christ and the enemy wants to keep us from using it.

The lies from my childhood had caused a lot of damage but those lies were no match against Gods truth. It doesn’t happen overnight but this damage can be reversed!! I’ve had to dig deep and discover what God says about me and my life. What he likes and dislikes. What pleases him, what doesn’t. He longs to shed his light on the dark abandoned places of our heart, the areas where no one is allowed to go, not even us. He longs for us to speak the truth to ourselves even if it hurts, even if we’ve never said it out loud…we need to. It’s time to be seen and heard. It’s time to be free. 

I don’t know where you are today in your journey but I want to encourage you that you are seen and heard by a God who deeply loves you. He wants you to know his heart towards you. He wants to dismantle every lie and replace it with his freeing truth. He wants to be your friend, your refuge, your safe place to hide. He wants you to know you’re safe with him and in him there is real peace. Friends don’t waste another moment in silence and fear. God is waiting and knocking on your hearts door…will you have the courage to open it and let him in and find your voice?! 

Brave and Courageous

It’s Friday y’all; another week almost over. I’m not sure what you’ve be waiting and hoping for, but if you’re like me there are a few promises and dreams that have yet to come to pass. There is no easy way to wait after you’ve done all you could do. Waiting has to be the hardest thing to do when all hell seems to be breaking loose all around you. How do you hope when there is no shred of evidence that anything good is coming around the corner? The bible says to TAKE courage {Psalm 31:24}. Courage is the mental or moral strength to venture, persevere, and withstand danger, fear, or difficulty. When we take courage we become courageous. You are convinced that what God tells you is true. You obey his word. You count on it. This takes courage!! To believe! To trust! To go forward! To pursue! The Lord calls us out when he gives a word that has yet to happen. He dares us to believe him. He draws us out beyond our borders of trust. We only intend to go as far as we can see but God intends to take us deeper where we can’t see. Walking out on his promise is our faith in action. Can we believe a little longer? Do we have enough hope for one more day? Are we courageous enough? Lord, I pray that courage would overtake us as we take another step closer towards you. You promised to never leaver or forsake us. You said that you are for us. You said that victory is ours. You said that your hope doesn’t disappoint. Lord, I stand with my brothers and sisters and believe with them that you will do what you’ve said. That you are our way maker. We believe! We trust! We are your courageous people!! In Jeus name…Amen!
